Hi all! Recently my buddies got me hooked on the intense ride of open track time trials on the local road course... and all i can say is that i'm pretty much hooked for life!

It's nice to see a forum that has a section dedicated just to road racing.

The best part about road racing, especially here at willow, is that it isn't exactly about the horsepower. It's all about weight ratios, suspension, brakes, and best of all, the driver! I run with the intermediate groups and i'm able to stand my ground most of the time, even in the underdog of a v6! It's really a lot of fun, and probably the safest (as safe as I think you can make the sport) way of truly driving your car

Haha nice work! I like your line, but you gotta be just a little bit more patient coming out of those tight flat corners. The live axle suspension has a tendency to slide a bit more easily on flat surfaces I've noticed. It's a great feeling isn't it, racing? I'd like to run with ya sometime after I get my car back in July. Who'd you drive with? If you ever have the pleasure of running horsethief mile I'd be interested in knowing your time. I managed to run down a '99-'04 mustang and set a 1:11 in my stock focus there. It was my first time out and I got so excited after that lap my arms started to shake on the next one lol

Neither, these are open-track days hosted by small organizations whose goal is to provide such opportunities at affordable cost.

It's pretty neat though because you get to see all sorts of cars from all around the area that compete in various classes. Every once in a while they'll hold s2000 challenges, miata challenges, corvette challenges - just for the sake of saying you got to race against others without the increased danger of wheel-to-wheel.

I went to Horsethief with Speed Ventures. They're a lot of fun and one of my favorite guys from NASA instructs the newbies there. He has a time trials z06 and managed to beat his record that day setting a 59 sec lap O.o lol if you ever go out with speed ventures talk to terry he's a great guy, and knows loads about racing.
