I'm member of Great Lakes Region Nasa. I HPDE and have been signed off to group 4. This year I have a new track opening near me(Blue Grass Motorsports Club). I plan on doing most of my track days there. I'm trying a new group, 10/10ths motorsports, to run with. They have three run groups so you get 30min on track and an hour off.

My Buddy is a member of NASA. He has an 1988 Mustang and runs time trial. And also has a Honda Civic he runs in the same class. As a matter of fact we will be running his car at the California Speedway in Fontana on March 27,28 &29 should be fun. Were you planning on going to this event?

Well no I wasn't exactly, because I don't have a car right now, and I don't really know anyone there, but I may go up one of the days and meet you guys I made it through HPDE 1 on my first time with NASA and out at Cal Speedway; I really like that track. it's very technical, and then there's the straight! Unfortunately I haven't been out to a track since Cal Speedway '07, but after this July I'll be a regular, working my way up to time trials in my '66. I'm going to put a 350hp 302 in it (it's got an I6 now) and a 4sp borg warner gearbox, supposedly the same as the ones in the shelby '65 gt350r models, so hopefully I'll be able to give a good account of myself in whatever class I get lumped into

Well when you decide to go shoot me a pm and maybe I can hook you up with my friend. We normally go to California Speedway and Willow Springs. Have you ever took a run up there. It is a bit of a drive but worth it. Willow is a great track.

SouthEast Region and US DRIFT Region member here! It's always good to meet others in these cars who are fans of the corners.

I am in the SoCal region and I am interested in joining NASA. It sounds like the HPDE classes would be a lot of fun. The car that I would take to the track is my daily driver. I have neve raced before, so I am mainly joining for the experience/meeting other Mustang enthusiasts. Are there any recommendations on prepping my car for the track?

You have to think safty first. I recommend some stainlees steel brake lines, Motul 600 brake fluid, and Some good brake pads(Hawk or Carbotech). The second step would be to invest in a second set of wheels and some Kuhmo V710's or some Hoosier Race tires.
If you get hooked you will then need to address some of the flaws in the Mustang suspension. Check out Maximum Motorsports, Steeda, Kenny Brown, and others. All of these companies design there suspension componets to work together.
The biggest improvments can be made by working on the loose nut behind the wheel. Get all the seat time you can. Even autocrossing will help you learn the racing line and car control.
If you want some good reading check out Speed Secerts 1 and 2 by Ross Bentley. If you read them you'll have a MUCH better understanding about the racing line and car control.

I'm in NASA's Midwest region as well as with Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, also doing HPDE, all new engine and suspension this year so I'll probably stick to HPDE but am planning to do time trials once I have the car completely sorted out.

yep.. I run a cmc car (camaro mustang challenge) great class for budget minded racers even though a set of spec tires cost about 850 a set and on average it costs 350 bucks just to register for a two day event.... Steep, but fun great group of guys.. I run with the great lakes region by the way..

I'll be at California Speedway March 27-29 with a few buddies. I will be running my 03 cobra, just put a coil over kit on it, SS brake lines, dtc hawk pads and toyo 888rs on it. Putting it on the scales next week. Bring my Rv with the car in the trailer. It will be my first time

Bluegrass Motorsports Park should be opening anytime. The group I run with has a date set for April 13. Word is that the track may not be ready by then. I'm registered for May, 2nd. I think the Porsche Club has a drivers school the last weekend in April scheduled.
