How to get my GT to handle REEAALLYY well... I mean...
... I want my 94 GT to be up there with the likes of a Z06, if possible. I'm going with a Griggs K-frame, tubular a-arms and coil over kit up front but what about the rear? I heard that MM rear control arms, my Steeda ADJ sway bar and a panhard bar will set the car off like it was built in Germany. Whats your opinion?
Im going with the steeda G-trac kit for my 95 GT Vert. I read an article on the exact same setup for the same car... said porsche had nothing on this car. and it was close to 450 HP spinning thru corners.
Check it out ... www.Steeda.com
I have the Steeda level 3 suspension and yes, it's a nice entry-level kit that maximizes the STOCK setup but it WILL NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT out handle a Porsche. I've outhandled dropped Integras and such but I've been smoked by an older 944 and a 911 Cararra in the twisties. Hell I even struggled with an AWD Audi A4. Again, Steedas stuff is good quality but it's a bit over rated in my opinion. I think the only way to do it right is to modify the stock geometry like the way Griggs, Kenny Brown, etc does. Not to just lower the thing and stiffen the springs.
I have complete Maximum Motorsports front and rear. Coil-over Bilsteins, torque arm, pan hard bar and all. Really nice stuff. In a suspension shoot-out, Maximums street car (at the time) beat out Grigg's full on race car! I have seen the Griggs K-member crack.
Not to rag on Griggs, but give Maximum a try.
Whatever manufactures you go too, use one of they're systems front and rear. Don't piece one together from different manufacture.

Only two ways to go in IMO. Either Griggs for the best all out competition or Maximum Motorsports for the best street and track setup. Both offer high quality, well matched, proven combinations that work. Steeda is a nice setup but IMO Griggs and Maximum deliver better handling performance.

You won't see that problem with Maximum Motorsports K-Member.
Those boys have tested the guts out of it and continually delayed their product release until they got it right and made sure it met their high standards. Their opinion, when I last spoke to them was they felt many K-members on the market did not have the durability or strength needed in such a key component. They made sure to design theirs as much for strength and reliability, as fuctionality. Based on the quality and functionality of their other components, it would have to meet all of those requirements before they released it.

What was the circumstance reguarding the cracked K-member and did Griggs take care of it?
The K-member was at Maximums shop. It was on a Fox Mustang race car. I have no idea what Griggs did about it. the owner was having Maximum install one of thiers

According to Griggs, their street k frames can withstand 5g's in any direction. That's stronger then the stock factory steel stamped k frame! So, depending on what caused the Griggs unit to crack, I think the Griggs stuff is top notch.
I agree with you John, Griggs makes some nice stuff. In my book it's between Maximum and Griggs. I, myself prefer Maximum. Besides they are an hour away

Hard to knock Griggs considering they are one of the best and have been for many years. You got a great deal on top of the line suspension/handling components for your stang. All I can do is drool.
