Default rims and tires

i am sure this has been brought up a million times but i want to know the size rims and tires to run i will be running on track days and drive it hard on street sometimes want 17 inch rims and will run nitto555
or something comparable i do not want to deal with tire rub but i would like to run widest tire possible without rub front and rear

For all practical purposes, 17x9 rims with 274/40zr17 tires is the way to go. Yeah, wider ones in back LOOKS nice, and can help a little with heavy foot traction problems, but given the higher up front costs and loss of tire rotation, it just doesn't make sense from a practicle and bang for the buck standpoint.

The Nitto 555 seems like a good choice. Are you going to go for the full R II road race compound or the standard nitto555 street tire? Be careful, because their is also the 555 R I which is the drag radial. My friend was given those in error just a few days before a track event... major hassle. Make sure the specify and double/triple check that you are getting the street or Road Race tires, as drag radials are deadly on a road coarse.

245/45/17 up front and 275/40/17 in the rear will work good :thumbsup

Here is another question, M/M 17x9 konig or the Steeda ultra lights, M/M are cheaper and state better quality? and then 245x40 17 both 50% street 50% for auto cross solo 2

We currently run the Nitto RII for open tracking. Its a pretty good tire, lasting well so far. We are using 275/40/17's all around.
