Default ford drivetrain into 73 triumph spitfire

Hey guys whats going on. Ive been looking for information on building a 350 hp 302.
I have a 73 spitfire and am building a new chassis for it right now. I just aquired a 87 mustang (wrecked) and I am pulling the drive train out to put into the spitfire. The only thing I wont use is the rear end. I have a 9in that Im going to use and set up with a four link.

Everything I have found on building a 302 to put out around 350 h.p and 370 tq involves stroking the engine or super chargering. Im a former chevy guy so Im not to up on the for engines. Im building this car just to kick around in and handle well also.

Im to the point now where I need to weld in mounting plates and crossmembers so if it is not fesible to try to get 350 + hp out of a naturally aspirated 302 then I need to look else where. If you guys have any ideas or know of some good books I can order I would greatly appreciate it.

Ohyeah I put this in this forum because I am building this car to handle so In put on that is also welcome.

Holley and TrickFlow both make an engine kit that will put you there N/A. The Holley kit is good for 350hp and 350 ft.lbs. The TrickFlow kit is good for 350hp and 370 ft.lbs.

Why use the heavy 9 inch rear, when a lighter weight 8.8 would be enough to handle that power level?

Thanks for that info it is greatly appreciated. I just really like the Idea of being able to swap out carriers depending on whether I decide to take it on a trip or going to the track for a little fun on the drag strip. I do have a 8.8 out of a couger I think thats what it was out of. Ill have to weigh them and see the differance. Im really shooting to have the completed car at 2500lbs or under. One thing IM trying to decide on is I have the 5 speed and I also have a aod. I love a straight shift but the aod is going to give me a better shifter location. I think I wouldnt mind the aod with a rachet type shifter in it. thanks again for the info on the kits though.
