Question Road Racing Suspension

I have a 1996 Mustang GT 4.6 SOHC. The suspension is totally stock and has a lot of miles on it. I just purchased it a month or so ago and I have already done all the usual bolt on Mods to the engine. I am wanting to get into Road Racing Courses. Can anyone tell me the best set up for my suspension for Road Racing & the best place to buy the parts and pieces?? A list would be great!!

Thanks,

I road race my Mustang at Sebring, Homestead, etc. I love Maximum Motorsports. They WILL make your car handle awesome. You first modification, though, should be your brakes. Get THE BEST brakes you can. You'll find that this is your biggest weakness on the track. Good luck!

I'm with him. Maximum Motorsport can hook you up. I spoke to them quite a bit at the NASA Nats in Mid Ohio. They are very friendly and informative.

On the brakes a very good "beginners" setup and something that could grow into a very good race setup would be the Cobra 13" upgrade. There are vendors out there with the calipers/rotors that will bolt on to your car for ~350, maybe less. I run Carbotech Panter Plus pads and they are great. They work on the street very well but can take the heat of a track that can be hard on brakes like CMP in S. Carolina. The Panther Plus is the second level they offer for the Cobra calipers so there's plenty room to grow.

I hope this was helpful, PM me if you have any questions.

I'd take a look at Griggs too - www.griggsracing.com. They've got some pretty good stuff.
