Default question about lowering suspension....

yea im gonna by some lowering springs and i found a good deal on these.. .but theres one problem, its says,"Whenever using Maxspeed Brand Springs, you must use premium gas shocks/struts.The approximate amount of inches lowered will vary depending on age of car, shick and other suspension components & other options. All MaxSpeed Brand Springs should be intstalled "...do i really need the shocks and struts i dont think soo but.. are they just sayin this to cover there butt or are they serious... its a 2 inch drop on a 98 mustang gt....thanks alot kyle palucis..

2" is a big drop. It will throw your suspension geometry off big time. A friend of mine put 2" Intrax lowering springs on his, and he had to buy new shocks and struts due to the way it bottomed out. The ride was horrible, and his lower ball joints went out after 3 months. I think that they are making a good recommendation. I would try to stay away from so low of a drop, but that is just me...

You should check out the Road Racing section. We have some really great and smart people when it comes to this. Depending on what you want from the drop. Looks/handling. We have all the info you need and want.

I recommend Maximmum Motorsports or Steeda Sport. Perhaps Eibach.

I have a 97 cobra that I installed Maxspeed lowering springs on back in July 07. 2 inch drop in the front and 1.8 in the rear. The car looks great dropped but did ride rough with the stock shocks. I replaced the shocks and struts with AGX adjustables. So far I am very happy. I can adjust the shocks to the ride I want. I also replaced the stock caster camber plates with maximum motorsport plates. Just a FYI.. I first replaced the stock caster camber plates with a cheap aftermarket set from ebay and got just what I paid for. junk. I then ordered the maximum motorsport plates. Not sure if I was going to need them but I didn't want to take it to have it aligned and be told they could not do it with the stock ones.

Hope this helps
