Competitive SOLO II Mustangs

I became editor for the Finger Lakes Region SCCA magazine, "Top End" last year. I'm sick of just writing about racing and would like to get into the actual driving part as well. I figured taht I could start with SOLO II and maybe some rallying before venturing into SOLO I. Now I've always loved mustangs, and grew up with my dad having them. I rode in his '85 GT and his '84 SVO, and now enjoy his Bullitt. Now I want my own Mustang, but everyone keeps telling me that they won't be competitive. I can't believe it. Tell me that I can make a convertible mustang competitive in SOLO II competitions.

P.S. - Would it be possible to compete with a 67, 68 or 69 fastback? ...just a dream.

Looks like a few Mustangs are being pretty competitive to me.

I'd like to get into some time trials in Solo I myself. Still kind-of building right now.

I've out for a long time, but I took S.I.R. rookie of the year in 93
agianst several ZR1s and a 911.
