I have a 95 gt and next summer im going to put on a full MM max grip box. and slowly work my way up to a 331dart block with f-1r.
1. what is the best tire to run on 17x9 and 17x10.5? It mite see some rain so keep that in mind but its not a daily driver so the stickier the better!
2. Are stop-tech from mm that much better then the cobra r brakes?
thanks for the help!

All I can give you is my experience...
For tires unless you already have the wheels I'd go back down to a 17x9 all the way around and run a Falken Azenis RT615, or Kumho MX. A 275/40 fits' SN95 Cars pretty good and fits properly on a 17x9. You can get some good tires that are wide enough for the 17x10.5s, but they are usually more expensive unless you go with the Sumitomo. I don't know much about this tire except what I heard from one guy. He uses it as a inexpensive rain tire for a time trial car he has.
I like both the Falken and Kumho for different reasons. For a streetable tire if I could take the aspects I like from both and make one tire it'd be about perfect for me, for a street tire. I had Falkens and I'm trying the Kumho's now. At first I liked the Kumho's much better, but I think I had better braking with the Falkens.
I have not run on R compunds as of yet b/c they can hide mistakes on the road course.
As for the brakes, I wouldn't get the Stop Tech's when I transform my car into a race car. Don't get me wrong, they are absolutely Awesome, I can justify the expense when I've seen 2 Piston PBR equiped cars hang right in there with the Cobra R brake cars.
I currently have the 2 Piston PBR's I'm going to try a slighty more agressive pad and some brake cooling before I even think of going
to the Cobra R's. It's my opinion that if you can lock the tires with out too much drama then you have good enough brakes. I can lock my pretty easy. Not that I go around locking my tires up, but the tires stop the car, not the brakes.
In another words all the brakes in the world won't stop you if the tires won't stick.
Actually kinda the opposite...
The setup you mentioned will work and will work great.
Stoptech makes excellent products, but you can get brakes that will max out any street tire you consider for much less money.
I don't see much good in spending 2k+ on brakes that won't acomplish much more than the brakes I can get for 300.
Those will be a bolt on for your car, but does require 17" wheels
Spend the other 2k on some track time.. If you live in an area that is near a NASA region, 2k will buy you a ton of time. Other organizations are probably just as well, I just like NASA.
On the tires.....
I'm saying that the same size tires all of the way around can provide better balance.
I have a staggered size front to rear, but all on 17x9s.
The tires that I run and for this car these are the only street tires I will consider. The tires I run don't come in an appropriate size for a 10.5 wheel. If you can find a good tire your happy with I'd say go for it. But if you can run the same size all around you can rotate wich is nice b/c if you do a lot of track events you can easily burn up on set of tires in a year. I'm on my second set since last December and I put them on in August.
The previous tires I had wore out in the rear first... go figure.
Judging by the fronts I may could have made the last the rest of the year.
I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money, I'm more just explaining what worked for me.
If you are going to go full race, and you know this for sure I'd get the Brembo 4 pot setup. If I go full race, I'll probably try the pbrs before upgrading just b/c I already have them. Be careful on the Brembo's though as with any of the 4 Piston calipers as not all wheels will fit. Most if not all the ford racing wheels will fit the 4 piston calipers.
I would have got them when I did my brakes initially, but I'm balancing 2 Fox bodies and a '73 Plymouth Duster. All 3 for various stages of duty. The other Fox being a dd and just for something different on the road course. The Duster is going to be a hill climb car and road course car. It's a project that is still in progress from my Mopar days.
Back to answer your question. Even though I said I would have got the 4 piston Brembo's, I've been suprised with the 2 pistons, if Igo to R compunds and decide I need more than I'll get more, but not until.
On the tires, rarely do you see any one running the tires you mentioned for very long, and I'll bet they cost more than the tires I mentioned. VulcanTire.com has the cheapest I've seen on Falkens, and Tire Rack has the cheapest I can find on the Kumhos, plus a $40 rebate on the Kumhos
I don't know on the Nitto. I've talked to one person and they dislike the 555's so much they they were tempted to go get better tires the evening after the first track day on them.
I hope this has been helpful, and if you have any more questions jsut ask
Jason
the more i think about it the more i thinck ill keep it a street toy but i drive very hard. SO should i go with the 2 piston or go with the cobra R 4 pistons? thanks for all the help!!
