Here is an update for you. I ran in the first event of the season. Finished 113 out of 196 cars. I should have stayed in STX instead of ESP since I don't have the wide wheels on the car yet. With the difference in index, I would have finished 85th. The new Falken Azeni's were awesome. They are very soft, so I'm sure they won't last long. The biggest surprise was how much they shortened braking distance. These tires improved my raw times and improved my confidence and precision with the car. I now know why this is the tire everyone wants.
RAT, I agree that in low grip, softer is better. If it rains at an event I will be running very soft. I have been using the shock/strut settings to fine tune the car for nuetral handling. On the street I run 4 front and 5 rear. I also have 1/16 inch toe out instead of toe in so the car will turn in a little quicker. I always strive for smooth, but sometimes find it a challenge in this big car on a course laid out by Miata drivers.
dsq27, GO FOR IT. I promise you will have fun. You will meet great people and see lots of nice cars. It is a safe, cheap, fun entry into motorsports. Every car is competetive. It is 90 percent driver and 10 percent car. At least that's what everyone keeps telling me. LOL
