I was at the track, Friday night. Won some, lost some.
My fifth race was:
A Sub WRX (non-STi) with turbo, tune and tires, ran a 13.6009 at 102.75.
My GT ran a 14.1 at 102.02.
I won.
How does this work? My reaction time was 0.2860, his was 0.8059. Is that why? Please explain this to me, my poor, feeble brain is having a hard time getting wrapped around this.
If RT is why, it sure didn't help me against the nitrous Charger...
Mine was 0.1840 and his was 0.5330 He made up for it with an ET of 12.4020 and smoked me by 1.24 seconds.
In 10 races, I have never gotten above or below 102.x MPH. I guess I can call that consistent.
Your reaction time doesn't have anything to actually do with your e.t. You could sit for an hour on the line, then make your run, your time will still be the time it took from start to finish. A lot of people get this confused and think your reaction counts on your time.
What essentially happened is you had a headstart and he couldn't catch you. There was a .50 difference in your reaction times but there was a .5199 difference at the finish in your favor so you got the win. Now against the Charger, you had a headstart of .349 but he made up for it and ran you down.
That's how a slower car can beat a faster car in bracket racing. Both cars are designed to be at the finish at the exact same time so it depends on your driving.

Right. Your E.T. does not start till your tires move out of the timing lights, no matter how long you sit there. It's from starting beam to finish beam. Then you take the difference in your reaction times and the difference at the finish and there's your margin of victory or loss.

Little late on the post but...
This is where driver skill will really show on the street. When the light changes, you might have a slower car, but still win cuz you are faster on the pedals. Hate to repeat what is already stated but EagleAutosports hit it right on the head.
