 1st time drag racer
last night i made a trip to pittsburgh raceway park. the last time i was there was 1975! i helped my brother(gopher) but never drove a car down the strip. the track has changed quite a bit.anyway,i have a 89 5.0 vert(k&N,3.73,underdrives,b&m shift kit) basically stock and i had a blast!!!it was test/tune nite,and i made 4 passes. first pass-- 15.269/91.51mph w/a .316r/t. best pass(3rd try) 15.013/92.19 w/a .147r/t followed by a 15.05. i thought i might break into the 14's but it was getting late so i called it a nite and drove home w/a continuous grin. oh, on my second pass i didn't realize i drifted thru the lights to stage and actually had the rear wheels onthe starting line insted of the front!!!!! i couldn't understand why thy wanted me to back up.the starter didn't look to happy. i bet the crowd got a real hoot out of that. i apologized to the other driver afterwards for making him wait. |
