It was a technical problem and a lot of people lost post that were made early today, basically the server switched to a backup and a few hours posts were lost they now know of the problem and hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

Change…..it’s what is left after taxes.
- Shaken....Not Stirred 2003 Mach I Auto Torch Red - Sold
-1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 331 Trick Flow Stroker with a Tremec 3550....oh yea and a 1.6 liter V-TECH motor to work the convertible top.
- 1966 Inline 6……..the pile of parts car!
I have a 2007 v-6. I did two track days 3 years back at watkins glen, NY (a great track) and started up again at sebring, FL recently with the mustang. I did 3 track days with Chin Motorsports in the last couple of months at sebring. I am going to homestead in February. Anyone else going?
The car was stock. Then after two consecutive days at sebring, I destroyed my brakes. I put in new OEM rotors all around and Hawk Performance pads. I put in the Ford Heavy Duty DOT 3 Brake fluid and air ducts in the front to keep the brakes cool. I did the job myself (except my wife assisted on the fluid change). When i went back to sebring I had no brake fade of any kind nor did the rotors overheat. The feel and performance of the hawk pads were excellent. I was able to hold my own or pull away from much better cars and sometimes get passed on the straightaways. I passed many newbies (including a shelby GT, lamborgini, etc.,) without a problem.
Until I moved to florida ayear ago, I generally did 20 track days and one race weekend each season on my bike (for the last 3 or 4 seasons). Now I get less than half of that in. I have a lot of experience with tracks on the bike so doing it with the car was relatively easy. (Mont Tremblant, Mosport, Loudon, Pocono, Summit, VIR, CMP, Nelson Ledges, Road Atlanta, Barber, Jennings, Moroso, Homestead). Down here in south florida there are few track days for bikes, so I was "forced" to take the car to the track. They seem to have a good deal of track days for cars down here. Chin Motorposrts does a decent job. The car is not as fun as the bike, but it is still a track day.
I did SCCA autocross in Idaho when I was in High school. one of my friends had a crappy old camaro, but we beat the hell out of it and had fun doing it. I only ran a couple of times when I was in hawaii due to always being out to sea (Navy) and the car not being together, weather, etc. I cone crushed there in my 88 Mustang GT, and even did drift. but dont tell anybody about the drifting! My car is soon to have the Steeda 5 link II rear, but I currently run Koni coilovers with Griggs racing hardware, stock brakes and 17" 95 cobra wheels for the track. there is some chassis bracing involved, and I am currently saving for a good set of brakes.

autocross for two years and club racing for 1. althought i race a "cough"VW"cough" its by chance not choice. i was dating a girl in high school and when she left me, her step dad kept me around. autobahn is a nice track with good scenery, gratton in michigan is hidden but very nicely layed out, gingerman is a good beginners track(little elevation change and easy corners). for those of you who have run at indy, please agree with me that the track needs repaved? i work corners there when i'm not running, there are soooooo many accidents that are caused because of the track condition. once the new track opens in northern indiana, ORP(indianapolis raceway park) is going to lose all of their road course business. also for SCCA members, what makes a ITE car an ITE car. i dont want to run AS or GT but i also dont want to be held down by absolute specifications.
I live in Northern, VA and have been doing track days at Summit Point for four years. I usually get in 4-8 days a year. I just joined NASA in the hopes of getting into their American Iron series eventually, but the cost is more expensive than my normal track days, so it might take a while.
To anybody who goes to FATT at Summit, I drive the 90 White GT if you see me stop by and say hi.
For me, lots of racing in 70's and 80's when I owned my shop. Still have lots of friends in the racing game. Skip Barber in 1996 when I was getting divorced. But lawyer said no race cars. So today I'm going to get back into it with my 2007 GT and some club racing. Just joined Northwoods Shelby Club. Have FRPP full suspension, Hurst, CAI, Brenspeed tune, performance pads, brake cooling ducts. Need to purchase extra set of wheels and tires for track days. QUESTION! For you guys in the Northwoods Shelby club or others, what tires are you running? I don't necessarly want to run Hoosiers and have to heat cycle them and baby them to get max perf. Are there alternatives that work? I'm running 17 by 8" on the street. I would prefer to by the same wheels I have now as take offs for $75-$100 each rather than by a new 16 pound wheel that costs $350. Like drilled rotors, expensive wheels are not worth it. Been there. Please help, especially you local guys. I'm out of Deerfield, IL. Thanks
I am new to the forum and thought I would add something to this thread. I have been involved with road racing activities for over 40 years in a variety of different cars. Early in my game I had a 1965 Mustang coupe that was our first new car. It was ordered with all the right goodies for handling. I only ordered the 225 HP engine, not the solid lifter 271 HP.
The car was our daily driver and I also used it to good effect in competitive events. I will always remember a time trial event on the Waterford Hills Road Racing course. Our car was still on its skinny factory Firestone tires and I was able to win my class and beat two Shelby GT350s that showed up.
My wife currently has a '96 GT Automatic that has seen a lot of track activity in driving schools where I instructed. It is totally stock but is still fast and a lot of fun.
I have been an active instructor for about 20 years, both in-car and classroom, so if anyone has questions about performance driving techniques, I will try to chime in with my $ .02.
If anyone is interested in getting started in road racing, I have created a new form of road racing where drivers can enter their street cars at whatever preparation level you have it (Run What You Own) and be competitive, if you drive well. For example, a Mustang V6 could beat a Ford GT in our racing, if the Mustang driver drove better.
I also want to get more women involved in the sport.
If anyone is interested, we are launching the program with a Fall Series in the Upper Midwest. More info is available at: Welcome to SATCAR!.
I am also available for private questions, just post it to me on the AFM site.
I have some track pictures but could not determine how to post them.

Great! Thank you for your offer.
First, where can I go to get easy money for all this track racing?
No, really, I'm sure you'll find plenty of attentive ears for your valued advice.
I don't know how valid my experience is: between about 1980 and a year or so ago, I did an occasional autocross in a TR7 (mine), an MR2 (my daughter's), and a Toyota P/U (mine).
My first autocross ("slalom" in those days) was 1958, Stuttgart, Arkansas airport. Over the next thirty years I must have done hundreds of autocrosses, won dozens of trophies, a couple or three local championships, and came second in state runoffs twice. Autocross cars included MGTD, Austin-Healey Bugeye and 3000, MGB GT and roadster, Vega Kammback and GT coupe, 1966 Lotus Elan S2 roadster.
I did SCCA Solo I (track time trials) in the MGB and the Vegas; ran the MGBs in the Tijuana Road Races and the Vega Kammback at the Old Tijuana Airport races; did SCCA racing in the MGB roadster and the Vega coupe.
The tracks I've run are mostly disappeared: Riverside International Raceway, Ontario Motor Speedway, Playas de Tijuana, Old Rodriguez Airport, Holtville Aerodrome International Raceway. My miles-ahead favorite was Riverside
(RIR - New Riverside Raceway (1970s) .),
but the most challenging road course is still active: Willow Springs.
My last serious track involvement was at Riverside, 1975: IMSA brought the "baby grands" along wth the GT cars, and needed to fill the grid with Showroom Stock SCCA little sedans. IMSA accepted my entry and let me practice and qualify (16th of about 30, ahead of all the SS cars and a few IMSA-prepared cars), but the genuine SS guys complained about my oversize (by 10mm) tires. They didn't get close enough to see the headers, and I got my entry fee back.
One of my peak racing experiences was during qualifying at that event. The Levis Team Highball factory Gremlins were doing their train-draft thing, passed me at the entrance to Turn Nine going probably 35MPH faster than my top speed, and I caught them before the apex of the turn. If I'd had a bit of horsepower I'd have nipped them at the line ...
Any road, after a long layoff I've run a half-dozen autocrosses and a dozen drag events, all in my 2006 Mustang V6 convertible automatic. Great fun, no danger of winning any trophies, and not likely to find our way to a road course. But when I win the lottery I'm applying for a job as P.L. Newman's motorsports understudy.
I can answer a lot of questions; not many will be of use these days, but they might be fun.
I have raced mine around our Towns La Crosse Speedway lol that was fun...otherwise I enter Drag races....I'll have LOTS of vids coming in MAY.
I would Like to enter a Big Road Race though...they look and sound fun.

Buttonwillow and Willowsprings. I ran the Silver State Classic and will be running more this year. I have a 93 Dominator clone with a DOHC 4.6. I am going to install the Agent 47 SLA in the front as I have the 03 Cobra IRS in the back with the MM upgrade. Twin turbos mounted midway or the rear will go on before the next Classic.

Seems to me this is the week of the Silver State Classic. Are you there? How's it going? Did you run across a fellow named Phil Henry? He and I were involved in a racing program in San Diego forty ( ! ) years ago.
