Just wondering what members have access to road racing tracks and who has experience on them?
What tracks?
What sanctioning body?
And experience?

- Shaken....Not Stirred 2003 Mach I Auto Torch Red - Sold
-1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 331 Trick Flow Stroker with a Tremec 3550....oh yea and a 1.6 liter V-TECH motor to work the convertible top.
- 1966 Inline 6……..the pile of parts car!
I race with the Porsche club. I am one of their tech inspectors and get to run with them. I race at Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, Summit Point, VIR, Sebring, Pocono. I run a 92 Cp with a full Maximum Motorsports Race suspension. Wilwood 6 piston front brakes and 4 piston rears. The car is 2766Lbs. with me in it. I run in the fast group with the club and am in the top 10 out of about 25 cars. I run with 90K $$$ cars and keep up with them and I have 16K in my car total can't beat it.
Your car is the exact reason why I love mustangs! 16k competing and beating 90K + cars!
You got to post some pictures of your ride! And stick around we need guys with road experience to help us guys wanting to be road racers!

Road America, Milwaukee Mile Road Course, Autobahn.
Not road racing, but high speed touring. Have done it for two years, now. Car is work in progress, '94 GT, stock 302, auto w/shift kit, 3.73 gears, Cobra brakes w/Hawk racing pads, chassis bracing, racing seats. Over winter, new suspension, better radiator, heads and intake upgrade.
Also sounds really interesting, but we need some pictures! Does your car do any daily driving also?

The '94 GT we use on the track is my wife's daily driver. Here is a link to a pic of the car on the staging line at RA Northwoods Region Shelby Club » Gallery
Hey I'm new to the site. I currently am an High Performance Driving Event Instructor with PCA (Porsche Club of America), PBOC FL (Porsche BMW Owners Club of Florida) and SVTOA. I currently run an 06 GT in HPDE and am building a 94 Cobra to be my dedicated track car. I have about 22 years experience in road coarse driving and AutoCross. I have also competed in SCCA Improved Touring with an 85 GT. I hang with a great group of guys/gals with the - Palm Beach Mustang Club Forums - and we all go to the tracks and run together. We run Sebring, Moroso in Palm Beach and Homestead Miami Speedway. It is great fun when we get our group together of about 15 mustangs or so and pound on the Porsches for the weekend.
My better half (wife-the other half of fastduo) also runs the car occasionally aand is very good I might add, but mostly helps me work on the car in the pits.
Here are some pictures of my current and past ride.
Was wondering, many of these are posted links to other sites including photo bucket, sometimes these accounts change and the links become broken. This happens a lot with old threads, someone will search find an old thread and the links no longer work. How bout uploading the pictures to the galleries here, which is also searchable so more members will see them.
Thanks guys!

I just got into it and don't really road race but I love to hot lap around Buttonwillow and Willow Springs out here in California!
I'm building a 2003 GT with an MM Max Grip Box Kit. I have everything but the PHB and the TA in from the kit and it already drives WAAAAYY better! I've already put in my order for the MAC LT/Prochamber Midpipe, 31 spline axles, Posi, 4:10 gears.
OH! I also put some Wilwood Superlite 6 pistons Big Brakes up front and am waiting for the axles to put the SL-4's on the back!
I did open track with the Shelby club at Lime rock, Watkins Glen, Michigan & Indy. This year I did the Glen in the 5.0 I just bought and totally loved it. This winter is a Maximum Motorsports full suspension upgrade.
With the Shelby club in the 80's & early 90's it was in my boat anchor BOSS 429 or Big block Shelby. What a difference in a fox bodied car. Not as much power but it can actually go around a corner with some speed. I plan on hitting the Glen 2 times and the new track in New Jersy with the Shelby club.
That’s a good looking fox you have there shelby1962 and Welcome to AFM.
Keep us posted on those suspension upgrades, and fell free to do a build thread on your car when the goodies come in, I would mind seeing other foxes done….better prepare me for when I do more on my vert!

Hell yesss, I love it. Im looking to do just about the same. I have 8k in mine so far and 3 years of motorsports engineering courses and access to cnc machines and a race shop to build it. I think ill be able to get there , are there any road courses in the NC/SC/VA/GA/TN area I could drive to and run? maybe need a AAA membership first.
I do the high speed touring once a year at the Autobahn course in Joilet Il. We run the full 3.5 mile 21 turn course.
I am still new at this and only do it for fun once a year as I cant afford it at 250 bucks per event, plus the wear and tear on my only car.
For the track I only have a few modifications. Wider Eagle F1 tires, Strut tower bar, SS brake lines, higher temp fluid, Hawk HPS pads. Rear springs now, front springs in spring.
Its fun and I love it. I wish I could afford to do it more tho. It makes the drag strip seem like a Sunday drive.
Ever do an event in the rain!
That was fun and scary.
Did a mod remove the last post? If so why? The guy doesn't make money off of this. Its giving everyone a chance to have some fun with their cars on a closed track
