Default Autocross rotors

Need some advice on 13' Cobra front rotors. Ran a pair of SP rotors with Hawk black pads for a few days on the track. Burned up the pads and cracked a rotor and the other one is heat cracked. Upgrading to Hawk HT10's, but need to know if I should go with "Frozen Rotor"'s, or go with Brembo street rotors and change them every time I change pads. Or any other advice. Yes, I have cooling ducts. Usually run Road America. The car is a '94 GT, stock engine, auto with shift kit, 3.73 gears, suspension and chassis bracing. Thanks

I'd go with the Brembos. They resist brake fade and dissipate heat really well.

Thanks, change the rotors every time I change pads, or just keep a close eye on them?

Are you Road Racing or Auto-Xing? If you're just Auto-Xing then the Cobra R brakes should be fine with the Hawk Pads but if you're Road Racing you are going to be MUCH harder on your brakes so you need bigger rotors to dissipate the heat. Usually you run hard for much longer in a road race than you do in an Auto-X so this is why! I have a set of Wilwood Superlite 6's and they work great but they wouldn't be my choice if I was Auto-Xing the car. The added weight will be detrimental to your times!

I've run Road America in both race cars and modified street cars as I am now. Brakes are always your biggest issue and ongoing expense. You already have cooling ducts which is a MUST. The Hawk pads are real good too. But what I do is simply change my rotors and pads after every event especially at RA where you run very high speeds. The back straight after turn three heading into the hard left at 5 you're top ending the car. You had not mentioned it but if you haven't, you should really take a course like Skip Barber. Back when I did it they taught at RA. Now I don't know. But brake management is really important. It's possible you are just beating your brakes too hard. For about $45 each for new OEM type rotors just replace them. Invest in a pyrometer too and see if you're overdriving your tires as well. Driving style is a big factor in overheated brakes and blown engines.
