Default 2003 Mustang GT Road Race Build with MM Max Grip Box Kit

Hi Guys!

I'm building a 2003 Mustang GT for the occasional open track day/HPDE so I went with Maximum Motorsports Max Grip Box Kit. Here are some pics of the build so far!

Tubular K-Member, Tubular Lower Control Arms, Bumpsteer Kit, Bilstein HD's, Coilover Kit, Hypercoil 450 lb springs! I went with Wilwoods Superlite 6 piston big brake kit for the front since I'm sponsored by them!

Replaced the stock rear Lower Control Arms with the road race one that came with the kit. The rear coilover kit also included Bilstein HD's but with 350 lb springs!

Caster Camber plates

Spherical Bearings for the top of the shocks for better articulation!

I didn't get a chance to install the Panhard Bar or the Torque Arm yet so when I get the time to do that I will go ahead and get those put in. I've also got 31 spline axles, Posi-traction and 4:10 gears on order so I'll have to find the time to get to all that installed to! Once the axles are on I can go ahead and install the Wilwood 4 piston rear brakes!

Since the suspension is coming together I wanted to start to research some power adders! I'd like to stay Normally Aspirated so as many bolt-ons please! Right now my plan is K & N (CARB certified) or JLT Cold Air Induction, Accufab 75mm Throttle body and Upper Plenum. I've already ordered some MAC Long Tube headers and Prochamber Midpipes which I'll probably cap with some Flowmaster 40 mufflers. Any idea what these will yield me at the flywheel and Rear Wheel?

I be really interested to hear how the Max Grip Box Kit has helped the handling. Is that kit primarily for cars that race?

If you're thinking of improving your car for the street then I would think that this kit is a bit of overkill since you don't really see or feel the difference unless you are approaching or at speed! I would go with one of their street type kits! Once you get to speed though the stability and predictability of the car is AMAZING! Corners that you would never even think of running through at, say, 60 mph are easily navigated at 80 or 90 mph! Obviously, a big part of cornering ability are the tires but the bumpsteer/rack relocate kit really makes a difference with how the car handles along with everything else the kit contains. I love it and I haven't even installed the PHB or TA yet! I can't wait!

Finally got some time to install the Adjustable Rear Sway, PHB and TA!

MAN! Am I tired! I was going to snap pictures of how it looked up on the jack stands but I forgot and got the car on the ground so these pics will have to suffice for now! LOL!

FYI, When you're drilling the holes in the frame rails for the PHB be careful! When I was doing it the drill bit bound on the rail and twisted my thumb back to my wrist

My thumb is still sore!

*****Edit*****

Well......after a day of beating up on corvettes, BMW's and Miatas I can undoubtedly say that the PHB/Adj. Sway/TA definitely works!
The car really felt good on the track. Had a really "planted" feel! Corners were nice and flat and the tires would let go at a controlled rate that was totally predictable. I need to save up some money and buy some good wheels and tires. I was running on some American Racing wheels a friend let me borrow that had some street Contis on them. I want to buy some lighter wheels and some road race slicks. The American Racing wheels are really heavy and the street tires now don't match the suspension for what it can do.
A couple of the miata guys came over and were asking me what I had in the car to make it corner like that. They told me that usually mustangs would beat them in the straights but they would beat the mustangs in the corners. Not Today, Boys!
