Default Need help choosing performance tires for my Stang!

Need some help in picking out a set of new socks for my 1992 Mustang Convertible LE.

I want to make use of that Maximum Motorsports coil-over suspension in corners, off the line and at high speeds, while still mantaining some decent road manners. Looking for a ZR or better speed rated tire, with outstanding high speed capabilities, quick steering response and both cornering and straight line traction for both dry and wet road conditions. Not worried about tread wear life or cost but road noise and ride quality is a consideration since its mostly street and highway driven miles.

So far I have it narrowed it down to a set of 225x55x16 Bridgestone Potenza S-03's or the Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP's to mount on my original 225x55x16 pony wheels.

Both tires have received some awesome reviews and recommendations over at tirerack.com

Anybody have any experience, opinion or advise on these or any other tire I should be considering?

A few people laugh, but I really like the Cooper Cobra ZHP01's. Very high speed rating excellent traction rating. We put these on Jesse's Mustang, I just could not believe how these tires grip!

96TT if you click on the tirerack.com link which was in my original post, you will see it lists three Michelin tires but unfortunately their rating and reviews were not as positive as either the Potenza or Firehawk tires. Did you have a specific Michelin tire in mind?

Twister, which model Protenza's do you have?

Anyone else?

Scott. I work at Firestone/Bridgestone. The Pole Position S-03's are a lot of $$ but still won't hook like a drag radial. S-03 is a road race tire and will perform better on road course than the Firehawk. Too make a long story short there is more technology in the s-03 then the firehawk. Go to a corp. firestone dealer. They should have both on display for you.

I'll tell you what cost is I'm off work today
Us employee's get 50% off those type of tires..

Yea, that is Firestones best performance tire. I thought of getting them myself but never did atleast yet! I have a straight line car so they wouldn't do anything for me but look cool. I would also recommend a cheap alternative. Lemans HR's. only 40k mile tire but it is a great tire for the price you will find. Also sold at Firestone. Ne1 in chicago area needing any of these tires or other Firestone/Bridgestone tires PM me
