Default Z Rated Tires

I was wondering if my Z rated tires would be ok to run in the winter, i live in Canada and we get alot of snow and and ice.

Should i change tires in the winter or would the Z rated ones be ok? thanks for your time.

It will depend a lot on the tire groove design, most Zs promote DRY handling and some decent WET response, but snow is another kind of beast.
My advice, get some used 16" wheels and a nice set of winter tires.

Default Z rated tires

I have the factory Z rated tires on my mustang here in Virginia. During the snow this year it was very difficult to drive around. Possible yes, but very difficult. The tires really do not like to hold the road causing you to slip and spin if you are not careful. If you can I would suggest getting a set of snow tires. I don't personally see snow to often so I just make due. They really don't like Ice either.

Default BFGoodich

Guys, I just wanted to drop my 2 cents in this discussion. I highly recommend the BFGoodrich KDWS g-force series tire. This is the best set of rubber i've ever owned. Great all season traction, great handling, terrific tire wear...they are actually formulated for light snow. Check em out.

I live in ohio, and have no problems with snow. During the summer months they perform just as well on dry pavement.

Later,

Jason

I too am running BFG G-Force T/A KDWS. They're great all weather tires, but I live in MD where the winters aren't too terrible. I don't really drive much in the snow though, only if I get stuck when it starts.

my advice is to just buy a winter car... mustangs are terrible in snow. i live in Ohio too, i had to drive up into the snow belt every day last year and i hated it. snow tires would help if they werent outlawed up here.

Yeah, i say just try and invest in a winter car. Insurance will be cheaper as well if you dont already have a second car discount.

I have Bridgestone Potenza RE730 275-40 ZR17

They kick ass!

Bridgestone Blizzacks! They have a very soft compond to keep them from hardening up in sub zero temps. I ran these for 2 winters and then decided to purchase a "winter beater"

Last year in the snow I made a whole 1/2 a block before I had to turn around and come back home. Thank goodness for the 4X4

Well, I drove my Mustang with its all seasons in the snow last year and sure noticed the light rear-end! The best gadget to assist was the pair of metal traction belts from Canadian Tire--best $30 I spent! Planning to get snow tires and steel rims this winter tho !
