Default Driving Problems @high speeds

hey every1 i bought my mustang about 2 months ago (2001 V6)
.... and every time i hit higher speeds of about 80-110, the car feels like its getting the wind knocked out of it. its like its not stable. u know how it feels when ur driving on a really windy day and it feels like the wind is trying to blow away your car? well this happens every time i hit high speeds. and im pretty sure there aint no problem with the alignment or wheel balance.
can anyone explain where this might be coming from?
THANKS

That was happening on my 2000 gt. I put on sportline springs and that all went away.

That may get a bit nerve wracking having it dance around like that.

Usually that is because to much air is getting under the car then the air exits the firewall causing the front to lift.

What exactly are you doing getting a stock V6 up to 100+mph? That is not a very smart thing to do. A V6 suspension is not built to handle those speeds...

You may try adding more positive caster to the front alignment. Try adding two degrees and see how that does.

That is not going to help out to much. The stock V6 suspension is not built to handle high speeds. The car sits too high and does not have stiff enough springs/shocks to handle the high speeds. They need to be lowered and set up with stiffer shocks/struts to really be able to handle better speeds.

Oh cut it out. My F-150 does 100+ MPH all day long and the suspension is fine.

It is not fine... I have yet to be in a truck that feels stable at 100+mph. I do not even like the way that the lightenings feel over 120mph.

I might sound like a broken record but the stock V6 suspension is shitty no matter how you look at it.

Well you must have a different definition of stable than I do. But what do I know? I guess holding a AMA Superbike Pro card and frequently going over 180mph (as in once a lap), going 227.4mph on a turbo Busa, getting my Mustang up to 187mph (on GPS) and last but not least I sell, mod and build custom suspensions for a living.

Clearly I have no idea what I am talking about

It is awfully nice that you have to introduce all of your accomplishments...

I do not understand how anything you have said has helped at all in this thread... All you have done is say that your truck can do 100+ and that you have raced. You have not answered or tried to help out with the OP's question or problem in any way... Are you saying that the stock V6 suspension is a good handling suspension? lmao

I answered him. I told him to look into stiffer lowering springs and stiffer shocks/struts as a starting out point. Hell even a rear sway bar and SFC's would help him out greatly at this point.

I sure have helped, I told him not to worry about going 100mph

Good enough to do 100mph

And your answer was spot on. Just about any suspension mod will help. My point is that he doesn’t need help though. The hardware he has is plenty capable.

And in closing, take a look at the thread closely and you will see that I gave him some advice and some of my background so he would know I am not talking out of my a$$

You presented him an opinion based on the fact that you think going 100mph in a V6 is scary.

I presented him an opinion based on the fact that I have a massive amount of background information in regards to going fast.

I eagerly await your next attempt at a retort. What angle will you play this time?

I think I will play the angle that I can spell...

Sure the V6 suspension is more than capable of doing 100mph. So is the suspension on an Aveo... Does that mean the Aveo should be doing 100mph?

I never posted anywhere that going 100mph in a V6 is scary. I said that the stock suspension is not built for 100mph+ runs. The stock suspension is soft and cushion-like for everyday commuting since that is what most people use the V6 for.

You did not help. He asked what was causing his car to feel unstable. Nearly everyone that posted told him to lower the car and it would be much more stable. You told him that he did not need to do anything, that the car is fine doing that...

I am tired of arguing about something that the OP has not posted on in over 6 months. lol You can say that you won this argument. How exactly do you pronounce your town name? Is the Y pronounced as an I or as a Y?
