Default Sanding and priming, 1969 Mustang

I have a 1969 Mustang Coupe. I have no experience on body work. I need any assistance I can get on sanding and patching some rust spots to get ready for painting. I would love a step by step process if anyone could give it to me, to include the sand paper grit and best patching material.

That's a lot of typing. I would recommend getting a book from the library, in particular "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Restoring Collector Cars". It's very comprehensive and easy to follow. My wife just got me a copy for Christmas because I want to restore a classic Mustang myself.
Here's a link on Amazon:
Amazon.com: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Restoring Collector Cars (The Complete Idiot's Guide): Books: Tom Benford

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
