Post Powder coating engine parts?

Ok I have all my misc engine brackets, and odds and ends needing to be cleaned up. Do I get them powder coated(silver or chrome) and if so does anyone know a place that they have PERSONALLY had work done at? For me to throw the stuff in a box and FedEx it is not out of the question for me.

All my main components are chromed or polished. But its all this little stuff. Or do I just clean/scuff and paint high temp silver? This is a 347 engine show car/street

Your thoughts please......

I really like the looks of powder coating. I think it is easier to keep that sort of stuff cleaner than chrome. No fingerprints. As for getting it done do not really know of any places local to me SORRY. Good Luck.

I say powder coating, as chrome holds the heat and may not be best suited for you're part of the country

Yeah I'm leaning towards the powdercoating but you can get it in silver and chrome look. I'd be happy with the silver look plus it might be just a tad cheaper. Now if i can just locate a person to do it. There are several people on ebay who sell the parts and thier feedback is really good was thinking of just hitting one of those guys up and seeing if I sent them my stuff if they would do it for me. Maybe send 2 pieces and see how it turns out that way the guy doesnt walk off and sell my parts. I'd hate to try and "bid to win it back" that would be messed up

I'm seriously considering buying my own powder coating system.

After pricing what I want done all the needed tools can be purchased from Harbor Freight.

One of my holdups has been the size of their oven. 18"X18"

I do not have 220v in my garage, thought I could run another line from the meter, but that is the size of the only oven they have and it is 115v.

The hard part of powdercoating is getting the part clean! The rest is simple and straight forward.

Still kicking this around...

I have personally used these guys:
Welcome to PenisulaCustomCoaters.com!
They're located in Williamsburg, Virginia. They did an excellent job on my valve covers.
A caution on chrome powdercoating. It will oxidize over time, and can easily scratch. If you put the protective clear coat over it, it looses its chrome finish and looks more like polished aluminum.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

How does that hold up to the heat of the motor? I know that anodized pieces do not hold up that well to the heat.

I'd say check these guys out, I've seen their work and they're AWESOME. They can chrome a brick or cinder block if you want... literally, I've seen it.

No problems with heat at all. You'd need the engine to get to 400 degrees for the powdercoating to re-melt. If you get that hot, you've got bigger problems.

I do my own powdercoating. I bought the kit from Eastwood, and the powder from Caswell.

I didn't have the correct outlet in my garage, so I went to Home Depot and bought the parts, looked up the isntructions on the net, and installed it.

I bought a used oven from a garage sale for $50.

Once you learn how to do it yourself, you'll find a lot of uses for it. It's not difficult. Prep is the same for paint. The part goes from prepped to installed in about an hour.
