Looking for way to remove wind swirls in black paint
Anyone know the best way to remove the wind damage done to paint. I notice swirl and streak marks on the hood, roof, and spoiler top. The car is Black so I guess I notice this more than lighter colors.

i've been trying to use zaino products (specifically their Z-5 for swirls and scratches) to try to cope with the swirls on my protege (it's a black clearcoat) and i've had some success. it depends on how many coats you put on as to how much you get rid of. i notice a huge improvement after one coat with smaller improvements (obviously) with each extra coat. it's a non-abrasive polish for both clearcoat and non-clearcoat paints.
there are others that make similar products as well but i've not used them.
Z-1 Show Car Polish LOK Pre-Cleaner and Gloss Enhancer
Z-2 Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Finishes
Z-3 Show Car Polish for Regular Paint
Z-5 Polish for Swirl Marks & Fine Scratches
why does your car look like a mirror, thats frickin ridiculous, i want to do that lol seriously thats the coolest thing ive seen, your car is perfect, not to mention that its an 03 cobra

damn indeed. I've got a black '96 cobra and my paint ain't even CLOSE to that. I was kickin around the idea of gettin the clear coat totally redone, but I'm about to go to college and I'll have drunks climbin all over my car and whatnot....... I might even be one of 'em. So yeah, I'm just lookin to polish/wax/etc the hell outta my car to make it look acceptable.
My Black 04 GT was a used purchase and has swirls, some minor scratches and some minor sap-pits. The manager at one of the the Ford body shops said his advice for a total finish novice like me was to use a pro detail shop and as he put it "avoid doing any more damage as you learn what not to do and then you will have a good finish to maintain." The shop here in Richmond I am going to take her to assures me thay can fix the scratches and pits and buff the entire surface out and want $175.00. Does this sound like a good deal?
Price sounds in line for the work needed to be done hard to tell what needs to be done without pic You may want to check some of the work he has done but they gave you good advice a good machine and pads would cost you that much anyway and there is a art to doing that work Black is a real tuff color.

a good old fashioned jitter(orbital)buffer worked very slowly to apply wax will usually remove almost all swirls in black paint. you can then remove wax by hand with a 3m microfiber rag. Do not use terry towels
on black they will leave fine scratches in the surface.

If its bad to begin with you need to have it wet sanded and brought back with a five step , It's so much easier to maintain after that . not easy and you have to trust your detailer . I usually charge around 350 to do it
