Never seen anyone paint that before. I would stay away from trying to take it off though! Even if you disconnect the battery, the sensor can still deploy and make a big mess... If you can find someone to take the cover off without deploying it, try a Writ vinyl dye which can be found at the market in many colors. Instructions are on the package.
