mothers makes a glaze type polish for glass, its pretty exp. but worth every penny. it will remove light scrateches on surface and give you that clean,new window glare look and take care of alot of the scratches. give it a try...oh, replace ur wiper blades often to avoid that,rain x is kinda a wax film, it will also help prevent it..

They usually can't be taken out with anything except from a glass shop. As long as your fingernail doesn't get hung up on the scratch they may be able to get it out with their glass grinder/buffer. They may say no, but you can ask more than one shop to do it. It might also cost near or over $100 to have done.

Try regular Colgate toothpaste. The silica in the paste will take out light scratches.

It's easy to fix scratches in your windshield or any other window on your car. I used to install auto glass and one of our most requested services was windshield scratch/crack/rock chip repairs. What you'll need is a small bottle of glass repair resin, a piece of "curing tape" (i'll explain) a paper towel, and a single edged razor blade. The best time to do glass repairs is right after lunch time (1-2pm). Take your paper towel and wipe off any dirt or dust (do not use windex or water, the glass must stay dry). Next, take the repair resin and squeeze a small amount the full length and directly onto the scratch. The resin is pretty thick so it won't run down your windshield too quickly. Cut off a piece of the curing tape and place it directly over the resin. Now the sun's UV rays will act as a curing agent for the resin which will seal and fill the scratch and harden the resin so it becomes one with the glass. The curing process takes between 15-20 min, depending on how sunny it is (if it's a little over cast or sunny and kind of cold outside then leave it on for the full 20 min). After the time is up, peel off the curing tape and grab your straight edge razor blade and begin scraping the resin. You want to basically sand down to resin slowly and carefully so that you have a smooth repair (it's almost like you're trying to purposely dull down the razor blade and you should always use a new blade for each different window if this happens again). You need to have the razor blade at a 90 degree angle on the glass because if you try to angle it and "slice" the resin off, you run the risk of pulling some of it out of the filled scratch. When you begin sanding down the resin with your razor, it'll look white but don't worry, when you've sanded it all off and all that remains is the resin inside the scratch, it'll turn clear. It will take about a day for the resin to fully cure so you should wait until the following day to clean your window with any kind of windex, etc. Also, if you would rather pay to have this done, it will only cost you $50-60 MAX to pay a company to do it and most are mobile and will come to you. Here is where you can purchase the repair resin and curing tape;

On average, you can expect at least a 65% reduction in appearance and glare/relfection. In my experience, it's been more like an 85% reduction for glass scratches and every 3 out of 5 or 6 repairs, the entire scratch would be filled in and disappear completely.
