Default ICE car polish on ragtop?

Has anybody tried using the Turtle wax ICE car polish on a ragtop? The ICE bottle says it does vinyl. I've always have used the 303 protectant on ragtops before but ICE rocks on the plastic and paint.

The top on your car is not vinyl. Do not use it on your top.

Don't they have two different tops offered for the S197? Not sure but when I was looking at getting another for the wife there was the cloth and an optional one, thought it was vinyl or something?

Well I have never seen anything other than a cloth top. Never heard of a vinyl like top.

I think it may be optional upgrade. I know there is an upgrade....just can't remember for the life of me what it was.

The vinyl is oem and to the best of my knowledge the cloth top is or was optional.
As to your original question is it possible to try it on a very small area to check?
I use it all the time on my car and im very happy with the product.
I use it on the vinyl trim on the doors and i also use it on my shaker hood.
Never had any problems at all.

My top was just replaced and it is not a cloth top. It is the vinyl top.

Be careful using ICE on your black plastic parts. I used too much on the black trim around the doors and now I have this white coloration/residue that I can't remove. I have to use tire shine on it to hide it. The bottle of ICE says it leaves no white residue, but that's not entirely true. I did put a lot on though. The ICE is still better than wax on the paint since it leaves no white powder residue when you wipe it off.

If it's vinyl you should be ok but I wud not do that anyway. There should be a cleaner specifically made for that type of material. If it's cloth, DO NOT USE ICE. It will stain/circle cotton-based materials.

Default stick with armoral

I use Armoral on everything plastic trim and top. I live in Vegas and the Sun does a number on everything. Ten years and it still looks new as the day I got it. So far I have not tried a product that has the same shine or can protect the same. I do not spray it directly on when I do my top I put it on a cloth first.

I've had excellent long-term results with Armorall, too. Even kept vinyl rear windows on a TR7 top looking like a new one after 12 years.

Ford offers a cleaner and a preservative that I've been using on my Looks-Like-Cloth-But-It's-Vinyl top. The cleaner makes it look new, and the preservative keeps it that way. So far (coming up on 20 months). Description and parts numbers are in the owners' guide.

I would use a quality product specifically for the type of material on top on your vehicle.

Turtle Wax calls Ice a polish when it's not, so I wouldn't trust to put it on anything as expensive as a convertible top.

Ice has a lot of solvents in it, and I can't see how that would be beneficial.
