Default My First Claybar Experience

All I can say is WOW I thought my car was glassy feeling to begin with. OMGosh. I just finished the coat of wax. It is about 100 degrees outside ugh, after I cool down and shower I will take her to get some shots! She sure is sweet! Well worth the extra work!

I used Meguires Kit, very nice! So how often is it safe to use?

We have all been telling you this for the last two years, I am so glad to see you finally listened. Now you see the difference!

You can clay as often as the car needs it. If you are in a real dirty area, you may need to clay once a month to once every 3 months. Other wise, usually once or twice a year depending on how anal you are.

LOL, I was amazed how much it removed from the lower half. That area gets less attention. I had this red mark I have no idea where it can from, the claybar removed most of it. I figure over time the rest will come off. I'm kinda on the picky side so she will get a few more claybars in this year! LOL

Clay bar is great but I thought I was told you should not use this more than twice a year. It is actually an abrasive so it will wear on the clear coat. Can someone else chime in on this. If I can use more I would like to, especially before shows.

Yes, there is a degree of abrassiveness to a clay bar, but again there is the same amount of abrassiveness in polish too. In reall dirty area (smog, sand, acid rain, etc), you may want to clay bar 3-4 times per year. But most people in most areas will do just fine with clay bar once or twice per year.

Congratulations! Can't wait to see some pics!

I am due for clay on 2 cars here...

I would do it 2 times a year - 3 times max... when your paint feels rough to the touch and your car is clean, it's time again.

Check out the clay bar pinned topic in this forum...

My car was not too dirty so all together it took about 2 hours. I was hustling to get her done. The washing was done very quickly, I have a squeegee so drying time is next to nothing.

ahhh, yes the first time you use a clay bar!! your no longer a clay bar virgin, congrats! .... the first time i used a clay bar was when i started work at bmw.... once you use it.... you realize what everyones hampering about... it no doubt makes a huge difference!!!! all those nasty buggers around the bottom of the car go away!

claybar is a must if you have white color car or any lighter color for that matter.
