Unhappy White Vinyl Stripes with Water Stain/Fade, how to remedy?

Sup all,

Last nite i got home from work early, so i took the Stanger out to get a proper hand wash and did the interior myself, it was looking gud!

Every tuesday night at a local mcDonalds parking lot theres a Toys for Tots fund raising car show that i have been passing by the last few weeks and enjoying the cars in the show. Many of the cars are really awesome old skool rides and or super custom cars but i was told that anyone could enter, so did. I saw an old buddy of mine and he hooked me up with a bottle of nano wax, so i rubbed her down to get the streaks/prints of for the show.

I noticed that my white stripes had a few stains that looked like Coffee stains and some discoloration, not the shiney bright white it used to be, but matte and spots that can only be seen close up. One of the guys talking to me thinks i have a leak in my garage and its water staining.

Any of u guys with stripes have any recomendation on how to get the stains off and how maintain the Vynl stripes? i figured washing would be enough but...

One of the guys said use compund and wax right after. I would love to hear what products and procedures you guys are using.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. i dint win a trophy, but i did get alot of smiles and questions about her. I was parked right next to a 1967 GT350 Vert (white with Blue Stripes) and i seemed to get more attention than it did.

my company actually sells vinyl striping and graphics for stangs so here's what we recommend: after cleaning with soap and water, use some slightly diluted mineral spirits and work out the stains GENTLY. wipe dry and apply any type of wax containing carnuba (to help prevent that from happening again).

If you can get them out you are one lucky guy.......the ones on my shelby are in the process of being replaced right now under warranty. We have tried every single thing from cleaner waxes to you name it, even buffing them lightly will not bring out the stain.

I hate to tell you but the only way is a set of replacement stripes.

i have a 2007 Mustang Gt White with Blue vinyl stripes. I dont know about the water spots or stains but as far as maintaining them i can help. I use a product called perfect detail. Its not like a cream like turtle wax or anything like that its a liquid spray. you can also use perfect detail on the rest of the car it leaves behind a nice shine. All you do is spray perfect detail on the car and wipe it off with a soft cloth or rag. its just like your drying it you spray it on and wipe it off. The perfect detail also will condition your vinyl stripes and protect them as well as the rest of the car. Its not a compound or abrasive at all it also causes water to bead off the car like a wax which will help prevent you from getting any more spots. I really recommend using this product to help protect and maintain your stripes and car. ill get the information and post it for you if youd like to try it. Its really worth a try i use it and it works really well

After you wash your car, you should polish and wax it... that will help keep those spots from forming to begin with... I've gotten those on my white stripes - easily removed with instant detailer if not let go too long... but I also maintain my cars paint and exterior with washes - and full details.
