Default Fine Little Scratches on My Car

Hey guys! I have black 08 mustang gt/cs! I just noticed in the sun all these fine scracthes all over my car and I'm wandering how to get them out. My wife just bought me an electrical buffer, so will that and some turtle was help get rid of those lil nasty creatures and restore my baby back to clean paint? Thanks!

If by fine scratches you mean really close to the surface then try the turtle wax and the electric buffer it should take them out. Hope it works out bro.

im not an expert at this but i wouldnt use a buffer i would get some light rubbing compound and do it by hand and then wax your car and it should be just fine, thats the only bad thing about a black vehicle it will show every little imperfection but dang they look good all cleaned up........

I am always afraid of using the buffer. If I ever need it I get my neighbor who details cars.

Are you talking about swirl marks? Be careful with the buffer and watch out for the edges. If they are swirl marks, 3M makes some swirl mark remover. Get the one for dark cars. 3M makes good stuff and a lot of their items are used in body shops.

Buffers are famous for putting swirl mark in the paint. That is why I never really use them.

Supakool: Please be careful with a buffer. The only one I would recommend is the Porter Cable 7424 random orbit (I think it is also dual action) Another thing that is important is to use good pads and use them in the correct order (course to fine). Also be careful with the polish you choose. Mequiars machine glaze number 8 might be okay but also might be too agressive. You might consider just using a clay bar followed by a mild polish without doing the buffer thing.

If it's an inexpensive random-orbital buffer, there's not really any cause for concern.

Knowing the model of buffer and what pads or bonnets you have would be helpful in providing cautionary statements as well as recommending products and a course of action.

A rotary polisher (not random-orbit) can generate heat quickly and wear paint -- if you have one of these, then you need to proceed with caution.

If its the small buffer, you cant hurt the paint unless you just hold it in one spot for a long time. But if it wont come out, just dont look at your car at that angle.
