Is there a way to clean up oxidized aluminum wheels short of using steel wool. It may be a coating that came on them but even Mothers mag polish will not cut through it. With alot of elbow grease there is still a look of splatter on the surface. Any ideas?

How hard are you rubbing on those wheels with that mothers? Using that stuff means using some elbow grease.

Same about 3 inch square spot for a half an hour, just to compare to the rest of the wheel. Gets real shinny but still has the splatter look to it like a sprayed on stain with a rough texture. Wondering if it's whats left of a coating or 20 years of crime..... I mean grime

As for how hard, the metal warms and the fingers are numb, Is there something with more grit that won't damage the wheels finish?

ive seen some items that attach to a drill. the high speeds of it and some pollish might take it off. if not ill save your hands this time around.

Oh yeah the Mothers power ball. Now that may work.
