Dear Sirs,
One year ago I bought a 1996 Mustang GT with 33,000 miles. I live in Florida and the Mustang sat idle for 2 years next to the ocean in West Palm Beach. It was well covered with a mustang tarp. The paint and engine are fine. My question is ' what can I do to/with rust on the chassis. A friend of mine said to spray the chassis with a heavy duty oil
like GearLube. Is that a good idea or do you have any suggestions?

i would paint it with POR 15. it bonds to the rust and stops it chemicaly. it is great stuff and it levels very well.

Just make sure when using the POR-15 that you follow the safety directions, that stuff is nasty if breathing it.

+1 on the POR15. I took a wire brush to the underside of my Fox to get rid of anything loose and then pretty much coated everything from the front of the back wheels backward. I spilled a couple of drops on the garage floor and NOTHING will get it off.
