mine are vinyl and i hate them. when i go to the car wash the stripes do not come clean. when i wash the car i have to hand wash the stripes if i wanst them to not be dirty. they are being replaced by painted on stripes in the spring.
I love my stripes but i want red stripes on black but i got a estimate of $400 from ford. Know matter what stripes look better than no stipes on a mustang by far. Painted is a waist of money in my mind unless your going to car shows.

Thanks ,I guess you get what you pay for!
I got a estimate from a ford dealer for around $650.00 does that sound about right?
sfil-
i bought my car used and they were on it already. but a local body shop that does REALLY good work quoted me 700 to remove and paint my stripes. and that includes going over the bumpers which my vinyl stripes do not
IMO stripes look best on coupes, but rocker panel stripes would look good

I like stripes on any mustang myself including verts, so my vote would be to throw some black stripes on it. As long as your top matches your stripes which in the case of you going to black it works well imo.

I painted the stripes on my 05 and would have to say that it is a much better idea than vinyl, they wont fade or peal in the future, and it painted on top of the factory clear coat it gives it an almost 3d depth and a real clean look (no edge from the vinyl it's just smooth) just my opinion though. And yes 650.00 or 700.00 sounds about right to have stripes painted on, lots of man hours involved to make sure the stripes are even and in the right place.
