Anyone know how and where the gunk that you don't want in the undercarriage of your car builds up or the best way to get it off? Also how often should you be cleaning under there? I use the pressure washer at the car wash sometimes but it doesn't feel like I'm getting all of it. Is there a more efficient way to make sure you get your undercarriage spotless and clean?

I think doing what you are doing is probably the best way to get the junk from under your car. It just kind of blasts it from out of all the nooks and crannines. That is what I would use. And for how often I just guess on where you lived. If you have snow I would do it more often to get rid of that salt and junk.

Yea I use a strong power washer to clean under the car. I works great especially because it has a burner on if to heat the water. Hot water and high pressure will take off just about everything.
Unless once a year you bring it somewhere to let them clean it... I remember I brought my old thunderbird to a place around here to clean off all the junk - and chunks actually dropped down - it was eye-opening, to say the least...
It's like a super steam clean for the undercarriage...

Wish I knew where one of these places were. I'm paraboid about undercarriage care b/c before I moved in with my GF I was driving my mustang through all the seasons including the bad NE winters. I really want to keep the rust out now that Its pretty much my weekend ride and I don't need to drive it during crappy weather.

Well you can buy your own high pressure washer. They are not all that expensive I got mine from Sears. I have hooked up the hose to the hot water heater and used it that way. Works great and would pay for itself in the long run.

Take a 1/2 hour and stop by local repair shops...
I am sure you have one of those steamers around there... ask the mechanics who they use...
I believe it's called: underbody steam cleaning

I'll also look into this, sounds like a great investment for the long run! Thanks.
