Well, I own a 98 laser red Cobra, It's in need of paint, a lot of is oxidating (fading). All the paint shops around here are giving me estimates of 2500+ Just to paint it back to factory and im trying to get a few coats of peral in it, There is not dents, or dings, just four little holes in my front bumper that I want plastic filled and my new s281 wing. Im taking Auto body repair in school and know a lot of what needs to be done, I just don't trust the idiots that are in my class. Has anyone ever had Maaco paint there car? Are they good? If I went with them, Would I need to color sand afterwards?
Heh, Well, of course Im not going to buy anything cheap for my car =) When I buy the materials to change my oil I spend about 80$ =D. But thanks for the input so far =)
Hmmm.... I wonder about this too. I have an 1987 F-150 that I want to get painted... Just to look decent and keep it from rusting. Good luck and I'll keep my eye on this post...

i have never used them but one of my friends has had several cars painted there one of them being a 66' fastback with the emberglow color. It turned out to be a really nice paint job. and he said that he would continue to use them.

We had a truck come into our shop with a $1600 Maaco paint job. A few weeks ago, the owners called asking where to take it for a paint job. We recommended a local body shop that has an excellent reputation for great work at a decent price. The owners went with Maaco instead.
So the truck came in today. It looked absolutely awful--none of the trim was taped off, so there were tape lines everywhere. Apparently $1600 doesn't include bodywork either, because NONE of the dents were filled. The Z71 emblems were reinstalled in different places--the right side is higher than the left. Oh, and they didn't even paint the back of the cab. I woudn't let Maaco paint my air cleaner.
oh boy, Thanks no good =\ Well, I guess ill go get a estimate done from them, and ask several questions, especially if they are I-Car certified. I just really feel like dishing out 2500+ just to get factory paint put on
We have had a few cars there. Most came out awesome but on one car the paint didn't last (maybe because the brand of paint they used). The more you pay the better it comes out! It will look the best if you get a clearcoat paint job and have it color sanded. It's worth it.

Just remember you get what you pay for. Maaco doesn't remove the trim (door handles, mouldings, mirrors, etc...) before painting, they tape them leaving visible tape lines and clearcaot buildup around the edges which leads to eventual pealing. They also use low grade paints to keep the cost down but the finish doesn't last as long and doesn't shine as much to begin with. Most of it depends on the technicians they have working for them, as it does in any shop.

Yea I just bought a 87 from a guy who just went and got a "Maaco" paint job and they definetly did an awful job when it came to taping off and trim and all... The main panels look fine its just the trim and the locks and grill that look horrid, cracking up and dripping on and under the wing. but for 250 bucks i suppose he got what he paid for, i certainly will be needing to buy all new door trim though
good thing i want a mystic paint job so as soon as i get the rest restored to perfection ill prolly be spending a good 6k on that also ...
ANYWAY!! Point of the story is if you want a good maaco job i suggest removing all trim and wings and anything they can just "spray over"

I have used them. I was in a hurry to get my car done back in 2002. (91 gt) I gave them the Cervinis hood, and my car and had it back the following day. It cost me $1900.00 for a full paint job, (factory silver). It looked like it got hit with a orange peel bomb. This was in Colorado SPrings, (maybe it was the altittude)
My 93 that is in paint right as we speak, is running me $7900.00 Full paint and VERY minor body touch ups, and Im working, along side the guy to learn something and teach him about Cervini ground effects.
Bottom Line Up Front: You get what you pay for

I have a 98 fire red vert, it had some minor body damage, I was worried about the young guys working on it. It turned out perfect. I took 6 1/2 days for them to do the job. I hate to say that I only paid $309.00 (I got a discount as I had 2 other cars done also). Still looks great today and we have to drive it during the winter.
well i got my car painted there. and it came out very good. good quality a nice even texture (no ripples, bubbles, etc.)
just check out my avatar or my pics.
lemme know what you think of them.
