Default Cleaning Steering Wheel

What product are you using to clean and protect your steering wheels? I have an 08 GT Premium with what I assume is a leather wrapped steering wheel.

I actually have the lexol cleaner and the conditioner but was just wondering if it was ok to use on the steering wheel. I took my car to the dealer this morning for service and some grease monkey left smudges all over my steering wheel.

Lexol has been strongly recommended to me as well. Next time I go to the Auto parts store I'm going to pick some up. Apparently, it's very good for leather. They make both a cleaner and conditioner. The cleaner is supposed to give a good, deep clean. The conditioner gives leather the suppleness it needs.

Or so I'm told.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

Don't you just love that. Had that happen to our expedition and caught it before we left the dealership. Told the service manager and he had the guy come out and clean it.

Yea on the outer part of the steering wheel, or wherever it's leather. It works well if you use one of the cotton polisher pads to apply the cleaner. Just get it a little damp and put a little cleaner on it so it makes a lather. Just be careful around the stitch/seam on the wheel so you don't get soap stuck there. Then use a clean semi damp cloth to wipe it off. After the steering wheel is clean, you can use the conditioner but you really do not need much at all. Just a little to recondition it. The steering wheel already gets a lot of oils from your hands!

If I remember correctly from my trips to Autozone... many of them specifically say "Do not use on steering wheels"... so be careful what you put on there....

Yea haven't seen that, but that would make sense so you don't lose grip of the steering wheel. Cleaning it is fine, but yea watch out when you use the conditioner so it's not slippery.
