Default Quarter Panel Blemish,2005 Mustang

Recently I found a scratch on the quarter panel of my 2005 Mustang Windveil Blue color (I think a kid was riding his bike around my car and fell and his handle bar scratched my car......). Anyway I used Quixx Scratch Repair to try and fix the scratch. It did a decent job, but I buffed one small section (about the size of a quarter) a little too much, so at a certain angle (viewing it from behind) and in the right light, the small area looks slightly darker than the rest of the car. Is there anyway to fix this? Basically, it looks like I buffed out the lighter blue color so its just showing the darker undertone. Its a small blemish but it drives me crazy! Thanks guys!

What lighter blue color are you talking about? Did you polish the clear coat off? Maybe the paint just looks darker from polishing it, maybe if you get the rest of the car with a normal polish it will blend it in

I have a Windveil blue too. Here's what I've done to match an area with a blemish:

1. Claybar entire section (for example, do the entire quarter panel.)

2. Use Mequiars liquid polish. Especially concentrate on the areas around the blemish. (Be sure you don't let it dry before removing it)

3. Wax with NXT - 2 coats. There are plenty of good waxes, but I have found this one helps hide light scratches and blemishes.

If you buffed the clear coat off (which it sounds like you may have) you will be able to see a faint ring around the dark spot you are seeing. If that is the case the only real way to fix it is to have the panel repainted, which can be pricey, but no wax or sealant gives the same uv protection as clearcoat and you will still have the dark spot.

I agree. If you want it to look right repainting it may be the best way.

Hard to tell, but I certainly wouldn't do anything else with it.

You may have polished too hard, too long, or with an aggressive applicator.

A close look with a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe might indicate the clearcoat is gone or you a least smoothed-out the orange peel.

I'd get a professional opinion or two, but again, I wouldn't touch it any more.
