it won't hurt a thing to wax over stripes... only thing is, and depending on the type of wax you use, you may get a wax build-up around the edges, which can be cleaned wth a soft bristle detailing brush....
I wax my stripes all the time. They come out shinier and I don't think it could hurt to give them a little extra protection. Just be warned, bird crap is your worst enemy. I had to clean it off my vinyl stripes twice and both times it left permanent marks.
