I removed the double pinstripe off my 87 GT last night and it looks a lot better. I used wax and grease remover to get rid of the glue that was left behind. There is a ridge left behind that highlights where both stripes were and I was wondering how to remove that. Could I use a claybar to get rid of it?

The grease remover did not work? That should be strong enough to remove it.

The grease remover got rid of all the adhesive residue, but there are still two visible lines that mark where the pinstripe was covering, basically hiding the paint for 21 years. I was just curious if a clay bar would help hide that or if it wouldnt work. If I rub the car with my hand there is a small ridge left behind by the edge of the pinstripes. I tried going back over it with wax and grease remover but it isnt something that can be removed by that, almost like it needs to be buffed out or something.....

I do not think the clay bar will take that off then. Maybe some rubbing compound would do the trick. But very lightly.

Thats what I was curious about. Well I guess I will give that a shot and see what happens.

You may also want to take it to someone who details cars and let them see if they can get those lines out. Rubbing compound if you do not know what you are doing can do more damage.

I know what i am doing when it comes to rubbing compound and buffing, I was just hoping there was another way besides that one. I will try a small spot and if it doesnt work guess I will just have to take it to a detail place.
