You would be so much better off to sell it and buy a droptop. It you have to be really hard to convert and you will have to still make it pass safety standards or something like that.

Buy a Convertible and then buy a FiberGlass Hardtop, a company in Florida makes one. It is like the factory Cobra Hardtop option

Hmmm if memory serves correct Ford was toying with the idea of a removable hardtop for the then new sn95 Mustang in 1994. See if I can find more info on it.

It's not a cost effective change, you need many things to turn your coupe into a convert, unless you can find a wrecked convert that could serve as donor, preferably one that has only front damage.

Then you can half both cars and swap the rear end of the convert into your car and the windshield pilar.
You will also need to reinforce the frame, full length subframe connectors with x braces just like the ones kenny brown offers (super subs i think).

my advice is to sell yours and buy a convert.

Ford Built a limited number of Cobra Convertibles with a Hard top,

1995 they built 499 Cobra Convertibles with hardtops it was to costly to keep doing it so they stopped production after the 1995 run.

Forget about cost effective. This idea is simply absurd. For one thing, if you ever got into an accident and rolled it, you'll be history. The A-pillars and upper windshield support on a vert are easily 3x as strong as in a hardtop. This is done on purpose, it's the only thing that keeps the car together in a rollover. Likewise, the undercarriage is stronger in a vert. Dude, be smart, just go get yourself a factory vert.

Any Suggestions? Convert Clip

I have a convertable rear clip and windshield post. It has the power cylinders, truck lid, and rack. I will sell cheap. You will need to strengthen the frame. Give me a buzz if interested.

Haha, that's classic. It's kind of wild to think that he would end up getting a reply five years later. Wonder what he ended up doing / where he is with it today.

If I were going to convert my hardtop into something like that I would Targa-Top it or do some T-Tops! Just my input on this 5 year old post....
