I am currently in the process of sanding my GT40 intake down. But I went and bought a bottle of Krylon Rust Tough Enamel Primer. Will that primer work just fine or should I get something different?

That paint will not stick very well without primer. Most aluminum parts need to be very clean, then primed with an epoxy primer. you can pick up a spray can of self-etching primer at most parts stores. Once primed you can top coat it with the paint you have.
