Default Chunks out of my paint. Solutions?

I purchased my car used, with the knowledge of a few small chinks in the paint (covered poorly by touch up paint). While running a quick detail this evening, I discovered some new ones, slightly deeper. One of them looks to be down to the primer, but the others look to be just out of the clear coat, or at the most the first layer of paint.

My thoughts are that I will lightly wet sand the areas, and then add primer if necessary, then dab on several layers of paint, sanding between coats, until smooth. Then clear coat, more sanding, and a good polish/wax.

What is the best way to repair chunks out of my paint job?

Hate to say it, the factory paint job by ford on our cars is pretty bad. I have lot's of paint chips down to primer and even metal. I found areas of clear coat overspray on the trunk lid and noticed the layer of clear coat on the sides of my rear bumper is very thin.

The only way to get a solid fix is to repaint the car. The paint chips will still show if you try to touch them up unless you get the car professionally repainted. By professionally I mean have all areas sanded and dings bondo'd or pulled so the body is smooth again, even when sanding rock chips can be easily over looked and still appear after respray if not tended to properly.

he is right, any way you "touch it up" it will look like touch up! keep it clean and waxed untill you get it painted....
