hey guys my 2008 gt was recently repainted, because of damage from hurricane ike, when the body shop got the car it had no swirl marks on it. after i got it back from the body shop it had swirl marks on it. how can i get them out? it eats me up knowing my new car has swirl marks.

Sounds like the body shop did a hack job, take it back and tell them to fix it right, the swirl marks are from buffing out the paint to remove dust,dirt,ect. Thay can use a low speed buffer with a sponge type pad and mirror glaze and the swirl will come out. I would be choking the owner of the shop

i was going to try and do it my self but they said 90 days before it could be waxed again.. how long do you think it would take them to get them all out.

one hour at the most, don't try to do it your self, they will void your paint warranty if they even have one, if you don't get satifaction call your insurance company and complain, they will make sure it's right

i have a lifetime warrenty on paint and clear coat. i'm just glad i didnt have to pay anything. i'm going to go tomorrow and see whats up and what they'll do..

i'm good at that.. thats how i didnt have to spend a dime of my own money to fix it.. they'll either fix it or hate me with a passion. but my car will be fixed right.

the best way to remove swirl marks is to start by thouroughly cleaning the surface. You can tell my touching your paint afterwards, it should feel smooth, like glass. After that, youre going to want a minor abbrasive, these are called "paint cleaners" and they range in their abbrasiveness. I use meguires products, and normally you can call them for help. Depending how severe your swirls are, id reccommend a paint cleaner with a cut from 2-4 on a scale to ten. be sure that you apply this in the shade too. Normally you apply it, but dont let it dry like wax. If you still have swirl marks you can try a clay bar, or even a higher cut. But becareful, you dont want a really abbrasive compound or youll cause more harm then good. Finally, after you have applied your cleaner, apply polish, not wax. Polish and wax are two seperate compounds. Polish will actually bring the color out more, whereas wax just protects. Finally after you add your polish, finish off with a coat or two, or however many you want of wax. That should make a huge difference. Good luck!
