Question Does Repainting Decrease Value?

I've been wondering this for awhile, does repainting a Cobra reduce it's blue book or resale value? I mean from what I understand there are only a certain amount of each color produced and Cobras are already a limited edition car. So would repainting the car a different color reduce the overall value of the car?

If so what if you repainted it to another stock color that the Cobra came in that year would that still reduce the value? Not saying I'm gonna have my car rapainted, but the thought has crossed my mind more than once

In my opinion, "Limited Edition" value is out the door as soon as you hit 20K on the ODO, or mod it.
That being said I have 39K on mine and have thought out the repaint as well.(only if it gets tagged)

For a complete repaint, you will spend at least $5K for quality, and then the only way you'll know the correct color is by the color code, and looking underneath the car.lol

Wont really decrease the value only the "perceived value" of the buyer in case what he is looking for is a "collectible" piece.

The Cobra is trully a collectible car, but the value depends more on the user than real market value.

If the job is done right, the real value wont go down, but the collectors value will.

Also, dont confuse collectible with CLASSIC or VINTAGE, not the same thing.
