Default Buffing compound removal

My brother-in-law wants to sell me his 02 with a 5.4 in it. His asking price is $7,000. The problem is a friends of his tryed to get out some swirls on the passenger side fender. He said the guy put on something like compound on the fender almost a year ago. The body shops quoted me at $500 plus. What and how can I get it off?

umm i don't know what you are talking about because when you use compound it disapears as you buff it, all thats leftover is little white splatter or in the jams, it should come of with a brush or a rag and water, if you got it on plastic molding good luck just get new ones.

A picture might help.
It's also possible that what's left isn't compound, but damage to the clear coat of the paint. The body shop might be able to polish it out, or you might need the clear resprayed. If it was just rubbing compound, it should wash off with water. Again, pictures would help. You can also try another body shop.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

For $500, you could paint both fenders with a base coat, clear-coat. If you can, try to take a picture of the damaged area and post it. Let me take a look at it, then I'll be able to tell you what to do to fix it, Mike.

So are you talking about getting the swirl marks off of it?

pictures would help but if i were you i'd take it to a good detailer and have him buff it out unless you think you can do it yourself and have all the stuff buffer polish pads clay bar it may cost less to have it done by the detailer

Will try to a get a picture or two but he live almost a hour away. I will see him next weekend. Spoke to him last night. He said that he swiped a pole, dented the fender and broke the mirror. His friend fixed the fender. But his couldn't get whatever he put on the fender off to make it match the rest of the car. I want the car because I think that it's a steal.

Well get it and deal with the problem when you bring it home.
