Default painting interior

I am going to paint my interior charcoal. I cant find find any black or charcoal interior trim piece by me unless I go on ebay and pay a lot for the pieces plus shipping. I am going to use the duplicolor high performance vinyl and fabric paint. My question is if I am able to paint my gray steering wheel and airbag this same charcoal, but will it stick and not peel, fade or crack?

First you want to get a pack of 400 Grit sandpaper, and two packs of wet or dry 600 grit sandpaper. For paint I used two cans Primer- Rust-oleum special plastic primer; two cans Paint- Krylon Fusion for Plastic Satin Red; and one can Clear- Rust-oleum Painters touch Crystal Clear Gloss. Also, tape up all the parts you don't want painted. And the chrome ring does come off the vents. I forgot to tape up the rubber part where the E-brake handle comes thru the console.

Take all the parts you want to paint and remove the finish with the 400 grit. "Rough it up." Then use rubbing alcohol to clean the surfaces to prep for primer. After the alcohol is dry, coat the surfaces with a nice even spray. Give yourself about 2 hours between coats to allow the paint to dry. Then sand with the 600 grit and primer again. Repeat for a third coat. Then let dry for 12 hrs. to dry. Before applying paint, sand with 600 grit sandpaper, then apply in nice even coats with 2 hours between coats to dry. Also use the 600 grit between coats to smooth out the imperfections. After the third coat, or however many it takes to get it how you like it, let it dry for 12 hours. Don't sand after the last coat. Then after it has dried, apply the clear coat with nice even sprays with 2 hours between coats. How many coats of clear you put determines how "deep" the paint looks. It also provides better protection. I used three coats. Then allow 12-24 hours to dry and it should be ready to put back in your car. Make sure when you paint, the temp needs to be above 70 and no wind. I just used plastic to seal off a room in my apartment with a fan taped in by the window. It worked great. If you have anymore questions just let me know and I'll be happy to help. Sorry about the novel I just wrote, but this is what it takes.
