Default Getting rid of "Swirl Marks"

Kind of a newbie with having a dark color car. I have a few swirl marks on the hood, does anyone know of a good product to get rid of the swirl marks? Thanks!

I had great success with McGuires scratch X . Takes some elbow grease also. It is the black Tube that says Scratch X.

Meguire's makes a good swirl remover. Check out the Show & Shine forum for some more information.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

Hey there,
Owning a dark car presents many challenges in keeping the finish clean and looking good. I would suggest going to the following detailing forums for some more help:
www.meguiarsonline.com
www.autopia.org
www.detailcity.org
www.showcardetailing.com

Simply register on the forums and do a search or ask a question. I personally use Meguiars products on my Redfire metallic finish and it always looks good. Alot of the processes can be done by hand, but to remove heavy swirls you will need mechanical assistance in the form of a dual-action buffer (very user friendly, very hard to actually damage the finish with it) or a rotary buffer (requires a bit more experience and can damage the finish if used improperly). Good luck!

Later,

I agree with the Scratch X. Also, some simple Meguiars Wax will really improve the look.

For a number of years I used Meguire's products on all of my cars; last August I discovered Adams' Products Adam's Polishes and determined them to be far superior to the Meguire's products. I think you'll find that their products will require less "elbo grease" and will give you the result you're seeking.

That is the beauty of a consumer market and fair trade, many brands to choose from. Quite simply, we use the products we prefer based on how they suit our needs and wants. That doesn't make one brand particularly better than another, as most brands produce outstanding results using proper technique and preparation of the surface.

Later,
