After i wash my car i get tons of water spots when it drys.. Even if i towle dry it it doesn't work. It helps but doesn't work.. I heard that Black Magic Car Wash stuff prevents these black spots.. Is this true? What do you guys use to make your car shine fine after a car wash?
Black,79 Mustang mostly carbon fiber/kevlar body, M-2300-k brake kit, full roll cage, maximum motorsport suspension, custom geared 6 speed, 2 inch rear fender flares, 1 inch front, motor being built (no eta). Looks like the Mad Max interseptor and weighs about 1800lbs w/o motor (450hp 351w installed to move the car around)
Black, 82 Capri RS 5.0L, B303, 1.7 rockers, World 180 heads, +150hp N.O.S, Turbo coupe rear end, T-56(tremec tko would be beter), 80 cobra nose
First off wash your car in the shade. When it comes time for the final rinse take the spray nozzle off the hose and allow the water to sheet off the car. This will help remove all soap residues from the finish and decrease dry time. To dry your car off use high quality 100% all cotton terry-cloth towels or 100% white bath towels.
If you have a build up of water spots use paint cleaner to remove the spots. I recommend Meguiars Medallion premium paint cleaner followed by a polish and Meguairs Medallion paint protector (wax). You can usually find these products at any auto paint supplier.

Part of the problem may be your water. If you have "hard" water, or too much lime in it, you will get water spots. My Dakota is black and I used to have the same problem until we got a water softener/conditioner. Now? No more water spots.

Try to wash the car before or after the sun has not been beating on the paint all day. This overheats the paint and it does make instant spots on the clearcoat the instant the water touches it. ( evaporation effect ) ditch the towel idea, cause all you are doing is scratching the surface of the clearcoat. Buy some more expensive Polish. Unless you are driving in the rain or in a acid rain fallout area, you don't need to apply wax more than 2 times a year, Just polish the finish. Buy a bottle of Mequier's show/shine spray for use in between washes, or to remove things like armor all, bird crap, or anyother spots, it has wax in the mixture to help save the clearcoat. Only use Terrycloth towels when using the spray, as anything else will hardly take it off. MOST IMPORTANTLY " if you use Mequire's gold class, do not do it on a hot or rainy day. it won't come off. do it when the is some sort of breeze and it is around 70 degrees, ( or in the morning before 10-11am ) This stuff is a really good wax, but I don't recommend it to a black paintjob, unless you are good at detailing your ride. ( more headache than its worth ). I hope this helps, any questions PM me. Thanks and good luck
They make this stuff--Sorry forgot what its called, thats you spray on your car while it is wet that helps prevent spotting and at the same time waxs it, or you car try a car squegee, thats what I use on my black GT.

This is a trick that I use, I don't know if there is any long term problems, but I have been doing it for many years now and it has not affected my paint in any way. I mix white vinegar with water, about half/half, in a spray bottle that comes out in a mist. After the car is dry, I usually towel dry first, mist the car and wipe it dry. It gets rid of the spots and leaves a shiny finish. It's cheap and it works.

When I was young and my family had a boat we would use the vinegar and water mix on the boat to take off water spots. Never thought about using it on a car.
Dream On, nice ride by the way, how do you dry your car? I use a squigy (I am very careful to make sure there is no dirt, sand or grit anywhere near that squigy) to get rid of most of the water and then touch up with a terry cloth towel. I use Meguiars Final Inspection between washes and wax with Meguiars Medallion Paint Protector about four times a year.

I guess I forgot to say.
I use an absorber squigy, it is made of a synthetic material and it does not scratch the paint. The leather type leave streaks that are hard to get rid of.

Only use dish soap if you are wanting to remove all grease, armor all, tire gels, road tar, and your wax. This stuff is lethal to your car, I use it once in a great while to remove little debris kicked up by my wheels, but you have to be careful when using. DO NOT use dish soap in direct sunlight, this will cause pitting in the clearcoat. Second of all, DO NOT use dish soap on windows or plastic lenses, they will leave a blurry looking streak on them. You are better off spending a little extra to get a good car wash soap. It helps the clearcoat free itself from the nasty debri mother nature puts on them. Other than that wash, polish repeat as needed.
p.s. If a bird happens to crap on your paint, remove it asap. It will eat away the clearcoat.. TRUST ME ON THIS.
