Default Body work on a bumper?

I've got a question that is probably pretty simple. This seemed like the best place to put it.

On these newer cars (03 Cobra in this case) Is it possible to have a small gouge on the bumper filled and repainted? Or is replacing the entire bumper a much better option? Reason I ask is I found a 03/04 bumper that has a small gouge in it for $100.00, painted my color already. Just seeing if that is they way I should go, or if I need to buy a new one instead.

Thanks for any feedback!

Thumbs up To repair to not to repair

Hi, yes the bumpers can be repaired. Not that I've had any experience at it but it so happens my car is in the shop now adding a Cobra R aftermarket bumper. In doing research online I found several sites that explain how to do such repairs. Just use any search engine and type in urathane bumper repair prep and paint and check out the responses. However, most sites are very clear in stating that "only experienced people need to be doing that kind of stuff." You need to check with your favorite repair shop and make sure they know what they are doing. And make sure your sitting down when they tell you how much it will cost. If you know how to do it, so much the better.

Thanks alot! I did my research on it from your suggestions. . . I'm just going to buy the bumper from Ford (I know a guy that works their. . . He's giving me the front and rear bumpers for $210.00 each) Can't beat it I guess! The stock spoiler is still over $500.00 from him, I'll keep goin through craigslist

i had a bad slash on my 04 bumper , fixed it myself and it still looks great after a year. I used a flexible urathane based glue to fill it , it wasnt deep .

If it's small then probably well worth the time. If it's cracked or a deep gauge I would probably step away from it and just get something new.
I've done a few patch jobs on a hood, fender, and rear bumper. I'm getting to a point that I realize how much work is involved in repairs jobs and what is worth investing my time into. The hood I repaired was a bad mistake, I should have just told the owner to replace it. I spent way to many hours sanding and reshaping it.
