Hello everyone,
I recently washed my 2006 Mustang and after finishing I realized my entire car, especially the windows, was covered in water spots. I tried Windex, Window Cleaning Wipes, Kitchen Cleaners, Vinegar, and even Mother California Gold Clay Bar kit. Nothing is removing these spots. Does anyone have suggestions or have you come across this issue? Any help would be beneficial. Anything to calm my frustrations.
Wow I had some water spots on my expedition and the clay bar removed them. Everything that you did is just what I would have done. Maybe someone else has a solution.

Thanks everyone,

I used Mcguires cleaning wax today on my kids Kia and it took off some water spots that I thought for sure would not come off.

Were the water spots there before you washed? Did you ever seal the paint with water spots already on it? If so that could explain why it's difficult to remove.
Since you already washed it you know the surface is now clean. I'm assuming the water spots are only on the trunk lid, roof and hood. Test this on just your hood. Put your car in the shade first and let the surface cool. Rinse with clear water. Take a clean towel and immediately dry. If water spots are still there then clay the surace, rinse and dry. Claying should remove everything.
You could try using a non-abrasive scratch remover. That may help. I truly believe you can get the water spots out.
BTW...if you are near an industrial park or similar where the air contains a lot of contaminants this could be a continuing problem. The dust settling on your can and then rain drops and sun will bake in these contaminants leaving some hard to remove spots. Consider a car cover when your car is parked if a garage is not available.
I'm in a similar situation, I bought my car a few months back and now realize there are several water spots on my side windows and a tad a on my front windshield. I've been working with it most of the day. Tried the sos pads, windex with vinegar, kitchen cleaners. I can see them lifting slowly but nothing dramatic yet.
I feel for you and hope you can get them worked out
If clay bar or a good cleaner (by hand )can not get the water spots out it is time to see a good detail shop. Show them what you have they will need to buff it out (if it is into the clear coat the only way is to buff it out) This takes skill and a good buffer may not be worth you buying one ( 200 + ) use just any buffer and you can do more damage then good to your finish It's money well spent to have it done right.

I think the advice given so far has been right on target - I would personally first try a cleaner wax on a small section - see if that helps... if not, clay - if not bring it to a detailer and ask their opinion - it almost sounds like the water dried faster than you could wipe the car down....
