Default Using Armorall For Interior Cleaning

I have been told by a few people not to use Armorall Interior cleaner. Does anyone have any info. on this. What problems could it cause. What else would be recommended.

I am considering using products by Meguiar's for interior and exterior.

armorall is good if you keep your car soaked in it, if it dries, it can crack the vynal/leather/rubber

Armor All, especially if your car is parked in sunshine will "cook"...kinda like smearing suntan oil on yourself and sitting in the sun. It will eventually dry and crack most vinyl, leather, and plastic. If you have leather seats, use a leather conditioner. Otherwise, a damp cloth and thorough wipe down will keep the interior from self-destruct. My daily "gofer" is a Mazda MPV (well, at least Ford owns a chunk of them) is 13 years old, a whopping 294,000 miles, and has never been garaged. The dash and plastic still look good (a little faded, but no cracking, etc). It's been used-abused-driven every day and still looks good on most of the paint and trim.

Its better to use just a damp cloth, forget about using any kind of products in the dash or interior.

And as all say, AA kills plastics and NEVER use on your tires.

Meguiars is great, but I would highly recommend getting 303 Aerospace Protectant. It looks great and will provide UV protection for your interior. It can be used on everything from fiberglass, plastic, vinyl, rubber, and a ton of other things. Only product that provides UV protection.

It can be hard to find, if you can't find it in an auto parts store a boat dealership is a great place to get it. It was developed for NASA for spaceships. Truely an AMAZING product!

that link contains all the info you will need to convince you of this!

So if you've already treated your dash and center console to armor all what's the best way to "rescue" it?

Adam: just start using a damp washcloth and that will clean the surface of the interior.

armor all is the devil. don't use it.

Stick w/ meguiars, mothers, 3M

Want true UV protection...invest in tint...Lumar.

Hmmm....I've used Armorall or another brand like it for over 25 years. Since there was such a thing in other words.

I've seen the sun completely destroy untreated vinyl and leather...

I'll continue using it.....

For some surfaces such as tires, there are better products, but leaving rubber, vinyl and leather to 'the elements' is just crazy!

Negative...you should be using detail spray. You can make a semi clean car look like its ready to show w/ this stuff. Again Meguairs, Mothers, 3M all have a version of this stuff.

Go to a real car show see how many people that take trophies home use 'armor all' anything.

I promise you will be more than happy with the results.

This is true...I don't keep my dash lubed up w/ stuff. But I give it a light wipe a few times a year...and everytime inbetween....I use a dust clothe and just wipe the surface...and usually brings back luster.

I agree. One can over do anything and I can't stand a dash that looks like it has a coating of grease.

Armorall and the other brands all makes several different products. I prefer the less shiny stuff.

The reason you see Mothers and the other brands being promoted at car shows is money! Armorall was prevailent in the shows many years ago. The price of the product pays for marketing and promotion. Armorall is such a well known name that they don't do the sponserships and marketing the other brands do.

YOU pay for it! Pick the brand that looks like you want it to. There is no need to buy name brands. All they do is give you bragging rights.

I use STP Son Of a Gun mostly and very sparingly on vinyl seats, dash, rubberand leather. I use Eagle ONE car wash, tire treatment and wax.
