The code for the Red paint on the '79 Cobras is 2P. You may get lucky if you try the Dupli-color line of automotive paints. However, the color is now 24 years old and you may have to have it custom mixed at an automotive paint dealer. Also, are you asking for pictures of Cobras? If so, I'll post a few of mine, as it was the same color combination as yours (Red/Black with Yellow decals). I've since changed it to Yellow/Black with Orange decals.

Personally, I would try to restore the exterior back to original visual appearance, as there were less than 7,000 of them made. You are in the minority by owning one of these early model Fox's. By the way, the Cobra's came in many different colors. I've seen pictures of Silver/Black with Blue decals, Black/Black with Orange decals, and White/Black with either Red or Blue decals. Orange decals were also offered in addition to the Yellow decals on the Red/Black models.

You'll notice in the following pictures that I altered mine a little bit, but not enough for people to "freak out". The things that I changed include the wheels/tires, painting the drip rail and sail panels black, adding the 5.0 emblems and cobra emblem into the grill, 302 H.O. decals on the sides of the hood scoop, and a 1984 rear spoiler. Here's a few pic's.

i know its a minority but i have found that i want to differ from the other 79 cobra running around the area it only mysteriously appears to people i know and ive only seen it once and the area isnt all that big so I am sure it wouldnt be hard to spot since its 1 of the 2 in the area that i know of so yeah i'm thinking on dark red color but i dont know......the color is exactly what yours was originally its a nice color but i dont know if i want it but i am trying to keep it as original as possible since it was the 56,800 fox out the door! bus as for the engine....none of it will be stock.......i have the block amd i am planning on keeping it as long as i can.....sentemental (spelling???) value since it was the first engine that blew up on me.....spun the bareings on the way to get a hair cut...also hissing cobra.....i am curious....did the cobra's have bigger intake springs? when we tore apart our heads to see what the height was on the compression springs..they were longer than stock and that kinda makes us curious as to if someone had played with the beast a little..or since it was the top preformance model it was bone stock and better then the ghia since im sure if they were both the same engines i am sure it would be more sensable to buy the cheeper. if i remember right they were supose to be 1.40" but these were somewhere in the range of..i want to say 1.50" to 1.60" but i will have to take a look at them i know this is more of the paint section then tec so since you mentioned something i decided to ask because i have kept forgetting to ask.

Thumbs up

Candy Apple red was a Code "t"paint code. My first car had it. It's not really pink though, probably wasn't mixed right.Take Jakes advice. Sounds like he done his homework
